Battery Charge Level for Storage
Battery Charge Level Storage for 48 Volt Batteries
Here’s what Fortress Power typically recommends for storage:
Partial Charge for Storage:
Store the battery at 40% to 60% state of charge (SOC) if it will not be in use for a few weeks or longer. Storing at 100% SOC can lead to increased stress on the cells, accelerating capacity loss.
Temperature Considerations:
Store the battery in a cool and dry place, ideally between -4°F to 95°F (-20°C to 35°C).
Avoid storing in environments where the temperature could exceed these limits, as it could damage the battery or reduce its longevity.
Disconnect Safely:
Follow the manufacturer's guidelines for disconnecting the battery safely to avoid any damage or electrical hazards.
Ensure the battery is fully powered down and isolated from the system.
Maintenance Check:
If storing for a prolonged period, check the battery's SOC every 3 to 6 months. Recharge it if the SOC drops below 30% to prevent deep discharge.
