How to Reconnect the Guardian to the Monitoring Portal

If your Fortress Power Guardian has power, but is no longer connected to the Fortress Power cloud, this is a set of instructions to get you back online.  This works for reconnecting and updating your Wi-Fi credentials.  

Before you start:
  1. Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your phone
  2. Stand next to your Guardian device
  3. Have your Wi-Fi network name and password ready (if reconnecting to the Wi-Fi)
The Guardian device is a white box that is located as part of your system and looks like the pictures below:

      1. Download the Fortress Power -Avalon Installer App.  Fortress power has several apps and make sure you connect to the correct one.

      2. Log in using the same credentials you have for the Guardian App.  If you do not have a Guardian log in credentials, please click on the link Sign Up Now and follow the instructions.

      3. You will arrive at the main page and need to click the Re-Connect button:

      4. You will arrive at the Bluetooth set up page.  Make sure you are near the device.  Click the next arrow:

      5. The app will start scanning for devices:

Your device will show up in the search and will have a number like the one below.  Click on your device: IMPORTANT NOTE: If your device does not show up, please make sure you are standing close and the power light is on.  Make sure you have Bluetooth enabled on your phone. If it is and the device does not show up, please reach out to Fortress Power technical support.

      7. The Command Center will pop up.  You will then click on the Registration Icon:

      8. You will get to the page that says, “Access Token Needed”.  Press the set button on the side of the guardian and wait 2 seconds.  Then click get token on the App.

      9. When you get to the Equipment Registration section, click the bottom button.  If you need to update your Wi-Fi credentials, you can click on the little pencil.

      10. Verify the system is online:
            a. Open the Guardian App and check the system status.  If it shows Online, you are all set.  If it still shows Offline, wait 2-3 minutes and refresh.

      11. Extra Troubleshooting Notes:
            a. If the system is having a hard time finding your Wi-Fi, your signal may be weak near the device.  We strongly suggest plugging the device directly into the router or putting a Wi-Fi extender near your system.  Think about where your router is and if your device is trying to get a signal from far away.  This is very common with installations that are outdoors, in basements or in garages.
            b. If the homeowner recently changed their router or Wi-Fi credentials, they’ll need to update the Wi-Fi on both the Guardian and (if applicable) the Envy inverter dongle.
