1. Log into Keystone Designer: https://mvso.fortresspower.io
2. Create a new project:
3. The new project wizard will step you through all the project-level required fields, including the project name:
The project location, which can be entered as a street address:
Or latitude/longitude by dropping a pin on a map:
And customer and contact:
NOTE: for your first project, you will need to create new customers and contacts. Keystone Designer operates like a rolodex for both customers and contacts. To create a new customer, you will have to first create a new contact to assign as the primary contact for that customer.
4. Save the project by finishing the wizard. This will associate the correct utility with the project based on the address entered as well as determine the project's geographic location (latitude and longitude if the project's address was used) and timezone that Keystone Designer will use for data processing.
5. On the project details form, upload an energy use profile. You will need a .csv or green-button .xml file with at least one year of even, 15-minute or hourly interval data for your project.
NOTE: if you don't have an energy use profile handy for a specific project, feel free to use one of the profiles attached to this article to get started!
6. Wait for the energy use profile file to be processed. When it is processed, it will show as valid within the energy use profile list. If it is invalid, it will detail what in the file is invalid.
7. Create a scenario.
8. Add equipment to consider within your scenario, using the drop down of available Distributed Energy Resources. Up to seven distinct pieces of equipment can be considered within a scenario. The scenario can be run with only minimal inputs for each equipment, as they are all preconfigured with smart default values. You must choose at least one piece of equipment to consider in every scenario.
9. Submit the scenario. Once a scenario is submitted, it will take some time to process. Plan on anywhere from between 30 to 90 minutes, depending on the complexity of the scenario and the current load on the Keystone Designer platform.
10. View the results! When the scenario has been processed, you will receive an email with a link to the results.
