Overall Scenario Settings

An optimization scenario, centered around a single energy use profile, defines the settings, resources, and constraints to be considered when designing the optimal installed microgrid. Scenarios are built with smart defaults so they can be defined quickly and with minimal input, but most defaults are editable, and using the Advanced area under each data section can enable precise customization.

Using a descriptive name for the scenario will enable you to identify it from among potentially many scenarios run for a single project.

To create a new scenario, click the add button at the top of the Optimization Scenarios section of the project details view.

The energy use profile to use for this scenario must be created and be in a valid state before it can be selected. The first step in creating a new scenario is choosing a name and selecting the energy use profile you want to analyze.

Default federal tax rate, state tax rate, and sales tax rates are 21%, 8.4% and 7.25%, respectively, based on California tax rates. All tax rates can be modified.

Extensive financial options are available within the Advanced section, including:

  • Federal investment tax credit.
  • Utility escalation.
  • Discount rate.
  • Site utility or Underground rate.
  • Building upgrade/Reconfigure rate.
  • Road and access rate.
  • Interconnection upgrade rate.
  • Screening rate.
