Energy Use Profile Overview

Energy Use Profile Overview

Energy Use Profile Overview

Energy use profiles represent 15-minute interval data for a single utility meter/load profile at a site. Keystone Designer is also able to use hourly interval data. A profile is defined by:

  • A description of the meter from which the load data comes
  • A general categorization of the type of load attached to the meter
  • The utility tariff under which the load is billed
  • The actual interval data
  • The option to process as 15-minute or hourly data (choose the option that matches your load profile .csv)

Note: if you don't have an energy use profile handy for a specific project, feel free to use one of the profiles attached at the bottom of this article or use the "Building Type" feature explained below: Creating and Running Your First Keystone Designer Scenario

If you do not have interval data available for a specific site, but want to model a scenario for educational purposes, you can use the "Building Type" feature. This feature enables the user to choose from 16 different building types with synthetic data modeled through OpenEI. The data for these building types is available in hourly format, which is then resampled to 15 minute intervals for the scenario.
